A belt is a strap or girdle that is a part of casual or formal attire. Although people initially used leather belts with men’s pants, women use a wide variety of belts presently with different attires. Belts are no longer only for formal wear. Read on and learn how to measure a belt.
How to measure a belt
If you’re shopping for a new belt, especially online, it’s important to understand how belts are sized. Finding the right size belt can be a little tricky, since belts are sized differently than pants. However, with a little measuring and the right size chart, you can make sure your purchase fits perfectly.
- Belt buckle to third belt hole
Place the measuring tape at the far end of the belt buckle and pull across to the third belt hole.
- Belt width
Measure the width of the belt by placing the measuring tape above the last belt hole and pulling down to the end of the belt below the last belt hole.
- Belt length
Measure from the far end of the belt buckle across to the far end of the belt past all of the belt holes.
Three Others Ways to Find Your Belt Size
- Measure your waist or the place you plan to wear the belt
The best way is to measure the place around where you wear the belt.
- Use a Measuring tape on top of your clothes
On the desired place where you plan to wear the belt, go around your waist with a simple measuring tape. When You measure in Inches, If it is an odd number, round up to the next even number.
- Measure an existing belt you’re wearing
Alternatively, you can measure at the fold, or where the buckle and the leather starts, to the hole that you currently use. Note that belt sizes always work to the middle hole of 5 holes. Do not include the buckle length in your measurement. When You measure in Inches, If it is an odd number, round up to the next even number. Don’t measure the length from end to end. You will not get the correct size that way.
Convert the waist size measurement into the desired international Belt Size
The waist size is not the same as the belt size. Check above Waist size to EU belt size to US belt size conversion chart to get the correct size. When measuring in inches, go 2 inches up as a rule of thumb
