European Belt Size Conversion Chart
The perfect belt can pull together your outfit, but finding one that fits properly can be a challenge if you’re not familiar with European sizing. Many top designers, including Gucci, Chanel, Burberry, Ferragamo, and Jimmy Choo use the European method of belt sizing.
Converting Belt Sizes
European countries measure belt size in centimeters. When you’re converting your measurements from US standard sizing, remember that 1 inch is equal to 2.54 centimeters. You can also use the chart below for quick and easy conversions from European belt sizing to US sizing and back.
As with belts that use US standard sizing, your European belt size is determined by the measurement from the buckle prong to the belt’s middle hole. If you’re not sure what size you need, measure an existing belt that fits well. Alternatively, you can take your measurements using a flexible tape measure threaded through a pair of pants that represent what you plan to wear with your belt and add 5 centimeters to the final measurement.

About European Belt Sizes
European belt sizes for men typically range from 75 cm (29.5 in) to 120 cm (47.2 in). Belt sizes for women typically range from 65 cm (25.6 in) to 110 cm (43.3 in). European belt sizes for both genders increase in 5 centimeter increments. If you are between sizes, it’s generally advisable to go up to the larger belt size. You may also want a slightly larger size if you plan to wear your belt both at the waist and around the hips. The low rise fit of a hip belt requires a larger size than what you’d need to wear only around your waist.
Dual Sized Belts
Some belt brands that sell to customers in both the US and Europe may note sizes in both measurements using a slash between the numbers. For example, a belt with the size 42/105 would be for someone who needs a 42 inch or 105 centimeter belt.
The European method of belt sizing is also used in the UK and Japan.
